A LITLE BIT ABOUT JUSTIN V.

justin
justin2

We met Justin though Eric D. (of Rub N Tug) in 2004.

The Sarcastic connection story goes: In 2002, Justin was living in NYC and was in a band called Out Hud. They were the band playing at the Passerby gallery/bar before a party that Rub N Tug were DJing at.

At that time they didn't know each other, but Justin stayed to the end of the party and they all eventually became friends. Then a little later, Justin would fill in sometimes at the regular "Campfire" party at the Passerby when the boys were out of town. Besides Out Hud, Justin was also producing/mixing/playing bass in the "indie dance" band !!! (chk chk chk). Eventually Justin asked the RNT guys to remix a single for !!! and later for Out Hud as well. He also played on the soon to be released RNT album & frequently plays bass on Dr. Dunks' productions.

After !!! & out hud, Justin released an edit called "Get To My Baby" on Golf Channel recordings under the Try To Find Me name which has become a Sarcastic disco classic.

He has released his own productions, edits & mix CD on golf channel & Black Disco – "Clapping Song" on Golf Channel & "Vandervolgen's haunted house" on Black Disco. Justin is also co-producer with Doug Lee (who is also a graphic designer and has done logos & graphics for Sarcastic Clothing) in a project called TBD.

Justin has numerous DJ mixes online but has gotten a lot of recognition and mention from his "Try To Find Me Vol. 2" mix cd which came out recently on Golf Channel. One of our favorite mixes of the last few years!

ABOUT DR. DUNKS

eric
dunks2

Eric aka Dr Dunks is one half of DJ duo Rub-n-Tug. He has done tracks & remixes with Olivier (of House of House fame) for DFA records as Still Going. He has also released an extensive series of re-edits under the name Dr. Dunks for the Japanese C.O.M.B.i. and Keep It Cheap labels as well as another promo cd for aNYthing called "How We Do in NYC" and soon to be released "Rub-N-Tug live in LA". He likes chili cheese fries from Tommy's. A LOT.

Ever since coming up in his hometown of Los Angeles' freestyle and hip-hop scene in the early 80s, Duncan has been a sound selector extraordinaire. With partner Thomas Bullock, he threw the notorious late 20th century Rub-n-Tug disco parties in downtown Manhattan, turning on a new generation of revelers to the sleazy pleasures of disco. He followed that up as the Saturday night resident at Passerby Bar, fueling the party until Sunday morning. Be it slo-mo disco, incandescent funk, or banging house music, Duncan weaves it all together into a nightlife soundtrack.

In the studio, Dunks has remixed everyone from LCD Soundsystem to Zero 7, the Beastie Boys to Coldplay, !!! to Roxy Music, Patrick Wolf to Grace Jones.

Now it’s time for folks other than New York City’s 24 Hour Party People to get a dose of Dr. Dunks’s medicine. Forthcoming is the eagerly-anticipated Rub-N-Tug full-length album, as well as the first album from Still Going. All of which will be supplemented by even more releases on Keep It Cheap and C.O.M.B.i.

Noice!
